His good displays in Brazilian tournaments gave him a chance to fight internationally. In 2001, he won his first belt in a big MMA event, in a tournament by Shooto Association for the Middleweight belt. After many fights and challenges, 17 years ago, in July 28th of 2006, Anderson Silva made his debut on UFC 64 with a knockout victory against Chris Leben in the first 49 seconds of the first round, the fastest fight in his career. Known worldwide by the "Spider" nickname, Anderson is a declared fan of Spider-Man, other superheroes, and pop culture. A Brazilian sports icon, he is also a collector of statues, action figures, and others. The official announcement of his license with a statue produced by Iron Studios occurred in August of 2021, during the fourth edition of Inside Iron Studios Day, the monthly virtual event made by Iron Studios on their YouTube channel.
